"We are Legends"

At Maple Leaf Elementary School, we are dedicated to supporting the development of the whole child. Our programs are designed to nurture each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth in a caring and inclusive environment. You can be confident that your child will have access to all of our resources and supports, helping them learn, grow, and live as Legends.

SCHOOL GOAL:

To provide students with tools to care for self, others and the environment.

ACADEMICS:

We understand that literacy and numeracy are at the heart of what we do. In addition to core programming, we utilize Early Years Evaluation (EYE assessments) for all kindergarten students. We provide literacy and numeracy support to students experiencing difficulty as well as English as an additional language programming support for newcomers. We also have Early Start French K-3 and Basic French for our Grade 4 students.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR:

Having diversity in our student population inspires us to offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for our students. From Regional Connections lunch club, gardening club, run club, outdoor skating in the winter and biking in the warmer months, we offer a host of in-class, before and after school (including soccer, gymnastics, basketball and badminton), and lunch hour activities such as school choir, friendship groups and art club to keep our active learners engaged.

STAFFING:

Like our students, our staff come from all walks of life. We have a strong team of classroom teachers supported by our student services team of resource teachers, a guidance counsellor and educational assisstants.

Legendary Behaviour

At Maple Leaf Elementary School, we wholeheartedly embrace being a "Legend" as a fundamental aspect of our commitment to nurturing a positive and supportive school culture. Being a "Legend" means we show acts of kindness, empathy, and consideration, respect for others and our environment, and think critically while working well with others. Particularly well-suited for early years, this philosophy provides a tangible and accessible way for our youngest learners to understand the power of positive actions, fostering a foundation of kindness, empathy, and community from the earliest stages of their educational journey.
